Nonna's Pasta Sauce: A Tripeptide Collagen-Infused Recipe

It was a pretty exciting day here at The Fountain of Youth Lifestyle HQ when our Founder Jacqui Hutton shared the coveted recipe for Nonna’s Pasta Sauce. Something I, your friendly blog writer, was particularly looking forward to. Without hesitation, Jacqui blended nostalgia with nourishment and had the idea to share it with you all as well, Fountain of Youth Lifestyle™ Tripeptide Collagen twist included.

Jacqui tells us how her Nonna shared the recipe amongst her family, how they’d take turns making it for each other. A language of love where everyone could get involved. This home-cooked, hearty dish goes a long way for the soul, and its collagen infusion only adds to the goodness. We’re here to help dinner do the most for your body, from the inside out. So please enjoy Nonna’s sauce, atop your favourite pasta, with a side of wellness.

Nonna’s Pasta Sauce

Ingredients:
• 750 gm veal/pork mince 50/50
• 1 onion (finely diced) 
• 4 cloves garlic (crushed)
• 2 cups dry white wine
• ¼ cup vinegar
• 1 chicken stock cube
• 1 cup water
• 440 gm can crushed tomatoes
• 1 tsp dried basil
• 1 tsp dried oregano
• 2 dried bay leaf (fresh if you can)
• 2 tbs sugar
• 6 serves Fountain of Youth Lifestyle™ Tripeptide Collagen (1 serve = ½ tsp)
• Olive oil
• Salt and pepper (to taste)
• Fresh parsley
• Parmesan cheese
• Your favourite pasta


Method:
1. In a heavy based pan, heat the olive oil. Add onion and garlic and stir until translucent. Add salt, pepper, and dried herbs, and stir until fragrant (just don’t let them burn).

2. Add vinegar and wine, and reduce by approximately half. Add your protein of choice, and cook through. Add chicken stock cube and water, stir over high heat for a few minutes.

3. Turn down the heat slightly. Add tomatoes and sugar, then add the Fountain of Youth Lifestyle™ Tripeptide Collagen, and gently mix.

4. Set the cooktop to low and simmer for at least 2-4 hours, adding water as needed.

5. Cook your pasta of choice in a separate pot as per package instructions.

6. Mix half the pasta into the sauce and spoon the rest evenly into bowls. Top with freshly chopped parsley, and parmesan cheese.

7. Serve and enjoy!


Notes from Jacqui:
You can really use any protein, like chicken pieces, diced beef, rabbit, or sausage; use your imagination (just remember to adjust the cooking time accordingly).

If you are planning on using gravy beef or something similar, try cooking for at least 4 hours. Don’t worry, it will only intensify the flavour!

This pairs perfectly with crusty bread to soak up all the sauce, and a lovely heavy shiraz.
